Help Live Your Faith with Our Social Action Commission
People who are poor and vulnerable are all around us in Knoxville and across the globe! Jesus called us to love our neighbors, especially the hungry, the homeless, and those living on the margins.
Our parish Social Action Commission helps us put our faith in action, and it needs new members. The group organizes:
- efforts to collect food and funds for Helping Hands
- Rice Bowl efforts during Lent for Catholic Relief Services
- four weeks of Meals on Wheels deliveries every year
- a school supply drive every August
- distribution of parish tithing funds to local charities
- various service projects to help neighbors in need
We’d also like to renew our annual Fair Trade Craft sale, sponsor study groups on Catholic Social Teaching, and coordinate outreach to our legislators on key social issues.
The commission is eager to welcome new members! If you’re interested or want to know more, please contact Pat Finan at 6412301036 or patfinan17@gmail.com. Thanks!
