
Mary Leslie Stahowick was born to Harry and Bernice (Nanny) Conway in Pleasantville, Iowa on June 10th, 1928. She passed away Sunday, May 11th, 2025.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 A.M. – 10:30 A.M. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Blvd, Des Moines, IA on Thursday, May 22, 2025. Funeral services will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 10:30 A.M. with a burial at St. Anthony’s Cemetery north of Knoxville.
Mary attended Pleasantville High School and graduated in 1946. Immediately following graduation, she pursued a business career in Des Moines. She worked for the Rural Electric Cooperatives of Iowa for 24 years followed by 10 years part time at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston after retirement.
Mary was united in marriage to Stan Stahowick on July 22, 1950 and to this union two children were born. Tom of Granger and Nancy Wedum of Des Moines.
Mary enjoyed traveling, reading, and visiting with her family and a host of good friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Wedum (Joe); son, Tom (Anita); three granddaughters, twin great-granddaughters, a great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, Bob of Knoxville and Joe of Lincoln, Nebraska.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church or St. Anthony’s Cemetery Association in Knoxville, Iowa.
