On this Memorial Day, we at St. Anthony’s pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifices remind us of Christ’s ultimate sacrifice—laying down their life so that we might live. As Catholics, we hold deep reverence for those who have made the selfless choice to defend freedom, justice, and peace.

Memorial Day is not just about barbecues and gatherings—it is a sacred opportunity to reflect, pray, and express gratitude. In John 15:13, Jesus teaches us, “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” Today, we remember those who embodied this love through their service.

Let us pray for the souls of the fallen, asking the Lord to welcome them into eternal rest. We also lift up their families, who bear the weight of loss, and pray they find comfort in God’s unwavering presence.

As we enjoy this day with loved ones, may we carry forward the legacy of courage and faith. Let us strive to be instruments of peace, defenders of truth, and servants of one another—just as Christ calls us to be.

Today, let’s pause in prayer and reflection. Consider attending Mass or offering up a Rosary for our heroes. May their sacrifices inspire us to live lives worthy of their gift.
